I've seen a lot of love for the Roku 3 around here. Is there anything it provides that I don't get from either a Chromecast or HTPC/XBMC? I love my Chromecast but it seems a little limited by the lack of API and the HTPC/XBMC seems a little overkill. The HTPC solution isn't as organized or as elegant of a solution as I had hoped. XBMC is great for some things and not for others, plug-ins seem XBMC is going to give you the most configuration options as far as tweaking. I run plex as I like the ability to transcode to less powerful devices (ipad, roku, etc). Both XBMC and Plex have passed the wife acceptance factor and the kids have no trouble navigating them.
